New Work

I've been way behind on my fiber art group 12" square challenge.  Each month we've been given a theme and asked to create a small piece.  This last week I've been working hard to catch up.

5 months done!  Including July!  All trimmed to 12.5" x 12.5"

Theme:  I heard it through the grapevine.  Technique:  layered yarn and ribbon on a pieced background, covered with tulle, heavily quilted.

Theme:  The answer is chocolate.  Technique:  foiling and eating chocolate kisses.

Theme:  Flowers on the wall.  Technique:  manipulated photos of flowers and a stone wall printed on organza and them cut to smithereens.

Theme:  Walking on sunshine.  Technique:  Hard to see, but the hot stripey stripset is pleated.

Theme:  In the lawn of life, be the flamingo.  Technique:  pieces of hand dyed cocoons, attached by quilting, and then frayed
I finally finished Big Figure #8.  It's been on the wall for over a month:

Big Figure #8, 34" x 48"

Beautiful work, once again.

I think there is a bit of ebb and flow in this creating that we do. Sometimes much is accomplished and sometimes not. I think the quiet times and the vacations are time to let the ideas simmer and take hold! Certainly the case with you!

Thanks, everyone! Coleen, I agree about the ebb and flow. But I think I'm starting to flow again...

Heather, I like your new pieces! Different from what you were doing at the Federation Conference in Feb. The colors are great - and I love some of the names.
