New Work! And a New Format!

I recently made ten 12" x 12" quilts, five tuning forks and five based on mineral thin sections.  I have seen other quilters mount their works on canvas, and thought it was a very nice presentation. But I hadn't really thought about how I would do it until I ran into Cindy Grisdela at the SAQA conference in Lincoln.

First, the new pieces.  Each, as I said, is 12" x 12" and mounted on canvas, wired for hanging.

Cindy was nice enough to give me detailed instructions.  And she has recently posted a tutorial on mounting small art quilts on canvas.  If you are interested in her technique, check it out here!

These pieces will debut at the show on Sunday, and are available for $150 each.

I'm linking this post to Nina-Marie's Off the Wall Friday, Confessions of a Fiber Addict and Crazy Mom Quilts Finish it up Friday.  Go see all the wonderful work there!

Heather, I mount my 10 x 10's on canvas as well. In my opinion, when they get to a certain size, they need a little substance to prevent them from looking like pot holders. Sunday is jammed but I hope to swing by to your reception.

These look great, Heather! I'm glad you found my technique useful and thanks for mentioning my tutorial. I hope you sell them all!
These pieces are all simply stunning…..even more impressive to me is how you managed the wonderful visual affects in such a small format!!
Thank you for sharing Cindy's mounting technique. It's new to me, but I can tell it is likely to become my go to method for small art quilts. Now if I can only remember to plan the size in advance... :)

Best of luck with your solo exhibit. It looks fabulous. Great walls, lighting and stunning work.

These are terrific! I, too, like to mount my small pieces on canvas.
