Cape Cod: Unplugged

We got home last night from our annual trip to Cape Cod.  One of my favorite places to be.
Nauset Light at Nauset Light Beach on the Cape Cod National Seashore
It was a peaceful, lovely trip.  In part because we spent the week unplugged.  No internet, no television and only very spotty cell phone service.

Instead of surfing the web, checking emails and watching tv, we played Scrabble and cribbage, relaxed in the garden, took long walks and talked.  Really talked.  It was wonderful.
We visited a lot of our favorite places.  Wellfleet, Nauset Light Beach, First Encounter Beach, the salt marshes in Eastham and Orleans, Barnstable Harbor....
Wellfleet Harbor
We heard from one of our neighbors that eight great white sharks were spotted in the shallow waters off Nauset Light Beach a couple of hours after we had been there.   We were glad we didn't see them. Especially while we were in the water...

And we celebrated Brian's birthday:
We spent time relaxing with Pop:
But mostly we worked on our house.  Rearranging furniture and cleaning out closets.  Working in the yard.  Organizing the shed.  Hanging some new artwork:
We even hung one of my quilts in the living room.  No home is complete without an art quilt!
September on the Cape is magical!
