Client Quilt Finished

I finished quilting this beautiful Hawaiian sampler for a client. Isn't it gorgeous?

She made it for a very lucky friend who is getting married. Good job, B!

New Work -- and Knitting Content!

I have had a very productive week so far. Today, I finished piecing several tops in my color block series. They are simply pieced, but will be heavily quilted and embellished. I hope to start quilting the first of them tomorrow.

Secondly, I had someone point out to me that I have never had any knitting content on this blog, even though I mention knitting in my subtitle. So here are three scarves that I have recently finished:

I am a relatively new knitter, and each of these represents the first time to try a technique. From left to right: my first cable, an easy dropped stitch scarf and a lacy mohair scarf.

Lastly, I have been making journals. Guess what everyone on my Christmas list will be receiving this year?

Charlie Sighting!

A storm blew through here at noon and brought a little bit of rain and slightly cooler temperatures. I just caught sight of Charlie the turtle out enjoying the mild day:

Monday morning blues...

I should be upstairs in my studio quilting right now...but instead I'm running around the garden with my camera.

First, a lime green lily. The buds were very lime green, the flowers more of a light cream tinged with green. Very fragrant and very pretty.

Next, an odd little plant with the name "Adenium Obesum," commonly called the Desert Rose:

This little plant is summering on the back porch. It is basically a small stick with a puff of leaves at the top, and now the first of several flowers. The flower is a deep pinkish red, about 3" across.

OK, time to get to work....

We won!

Just had to post this! On Sunday, my partner Ann and I, along with Mary Jo and Marilyn, won the 299 Swiss Teams competition in the Fort Worth Regional Bridge Tournament! We got a trophy and everything!
Ann and I also played on Friday and came in first in our section, 4th overall. So a very good weekend of bridge!

My First Etsy Purchase!

I bought this lovely little bird, a Gocco print mounted on burlap and canvas board by Liz Plummer, on Etsy!
I "met" Liz (who is from the UK) during the Sue Bleiweiss' Journal Making class. She does beautiful work -- check out her blog at

It's very hot here -- close to 100 degrees -- so I'm enjoying my garden while I can.
