Just finished (and delivered) my first longarm job of 2009. A beautiful aqua and brown diamond quilt by Sydney. Gorgeous, isn't it?!

Today I thought I'd share a few pictures of quilts and artists. First is Valerie Maser-Flanagan with her two quilts, Growth Rings #1 and #2. I love the shading in these pieces. Next is Patricia Altenburg's piece, City Lights #1. I love the way her shapes are breaking out of the circle. Wendy Hook with her quilt, Piet and Repeat. Carol Hazen had two pieces in the show. Snow and cold - brrrr!

We've had some unusually cold and snowy weather here in North Texas lately. In the four years we've lived here, it has snowed three or four times, and it has never snowed enough to blanket the grass. But over the holidays it snowed twice in one week. The first was on Christmas eve. I took these pictures on Christmas morning: The snow had melted by December 26, except for a few patches here and there, and then it snowed again. Amazing! Not as much snow, but it fell in lovely big fluffy flakes. I love snow! It warmed up for a few days, enough for Pop to board the train back to New Jersey, and then we had some of the coldest weather we've seen since we moved to Texas 28 years ago. Three consecutive days where the temperature didn't get over 25 degrees Fahrenheit! Our poor backyard fountain was encrusted in so much ice that the basin kept emptying (it was all frozen on the sides and base). Ohio!

I just got home from two weeks at the Crow Timber Frame Barn in Baltimore, Ohio, in a class with the talented Carol Soderlund . It was fabulous in many ways: I spent time with two of my favorite friends ( Maria Shell and Kerri McQueen Green ), I made a lovely new friend ( Kim Eichler-Messmer ), caught up with friends I hadn't seen since the start of the pandemic (too numerous to list), spent a lovely weekend with my brother and sister-in-law, and learned some wonderful new surface design techniques. All in all, an action packed 2-1/2 weeks. Kerri and I had a massive amount of supplies to take for our printing class. So we decided to drive from Dallas to Columbus. The car was stuffed. And we left bright and early. The first night's objective was Jackson, Tennessee. It was a lovely day. But we had a little car trouble. Luckily the Lexus dealer in Little Rock got us back on the road quickly. And Sunday we were at the Barn. One of my favorite places to be. We stayed in an Airbnb
