Today I thought I'd share a few pictures of quilts and artists. First is Valerie Maser-Flanagan with her two quilts, Growth Rings #1 and #2. I love the shading in these pieces. Next is Patricia Altenburg's piece, City Lights #1. I love the way her shapes are breaking out of the circle. Wendy Hook with her quilt, Piet and Repeat. Carol Hazen had two pieces in the show. This is Danger-Wrong Way. Very cool. Patricia Guthrie also had two pieces in the show. This is Rolling Color. I love her palette. Maren Johnston came all of the way from California for the opening. This is her piece, Emergence. This is Marina Baudoin with her piece Twister. I loved these two pieces by Kathy Anso. The first is In Loving Memory. This one is Ministry of Silly Walks. Snow and cold - brrrr!

We've had some unusually cold and snowy weather here in North Texas lately. In the four years we've lived here, it has snowed three or four times, and it has never snowed enough to blanket the grass. But over the holidays it snowed twice in one week. The first was on Christmas eve. I took these pictures on Christmas morning: The snow had melted by December 26, except for a few patches here and there, and then it snowed again. Amazing! Not as much snow, but it fell in lovely big fluffy flakes. I love snow! It warmed up for a few days, enough for Pop to board the train back to New Jersey, and then we had some of the coldest weather we've seen since we moved to Texas 28 years ago. Three consecutive days where the temperature didn't get over 25 degrees Fahrenheit! Our poor backyard fountain was encrusted in so much ice that the basin kept emptying (it was all frozen on the sides and base). I’ve moved to Massachusetts!

Brian retired last December, so it was time for a new adventure. Massachusetts, here we come! We inherited B’s family’s summer cottage on Cape Cod. We’ve spent many wonderful vacations there over the years. It was very small (832 sq ft), so we decided to renovate and expand it. We added a second story and a kitchen extension. Construction started 2 years ago and finished in August. We sold our Texas house (in 6 days!) and moved to Eastham just before Thanksgiving. It’s a traditional Cape Cod house. There are still lots of boxes to unpack, but we’ve made a good start. The living areas first (baths, kitchen, living room): And of course, my studio! And, finally, a glimpse of my supplies and fabric stash area: A bit of a mess… I have been trying to think of how I can better organize it. Suggestions are welcome! But for now, it’s on to the next box. Who knows what treasures we’ll discover.
