The holidays have flown by. There seemed to be very little time between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and that was filled with shopping, wrapping, mailing, cleaning (we host the family at Christmas) and parties. One party was a Christmas party/housewarming, and I made a small quilt for our friends:

And suddenly it was Christmas day! We cut a 6 foot blue spruce in Colorado at Thanksgiving, and managed to get it home to Texas by stuffing it inside the car. Quite an adventure! We didn't think it would survive 700 miles on top of the car, but I have to say it was an interesting ride home with the trunk of the tree between us....
It did make a lovely Christmas tree. An old fashioned look, with lots of space for ornaments.
B's brother and father joined us for Christmas, so we had lots of stockings to hang by the fire.Brian gave me a new telephoto lens for Christmas. I spent much of the day zooming in on things.
We had a lovely New Year's Eve and New Year's Day with Pop. We watched Top Hat and After the Thin Man on New Year's Eve, and we all managed to stay awake until midnight. On New Year's Day I cooked our traditional pork and sauerkraut, and Brian made a bean gratin. Everything was delicious.
Here's to a happy and productive 2014!I'm linking this post to Nina-Marie's Off the Wall Friday, Richard and Tanya's Quilts Link a Finish Friday and Crazy Mom Quilts Finish it up Friday. Go see all the wonderful work there!
