Passenger Train Sighting

I was sitting at a stoplight last Wednesday, waiting to turn into my neighborhood, when I saw an unusual sight:
It's a passenger train!

According to their schedule, the Grapevine Vintage Railroad runs on Saturdays and Sundays.  They have two regular routes: one from Grapevine, in the mid-cities region (the area between Fort Worth and Dallas) to the Fort Worth Stockyards, and the second from the Stockyards along the Trinity River to a small station 4 blocks from our house.  On weekend afternoons, if the wind is right, we can hear the steam train puffing into the station.  The engine above is of course not Puffy the steam engine, but a vintage 1953 diesel engine.

It must have been a special excursion.  This time of year they offer many special rides -- the North Pole Express and a Christmas Wine Train.  Looks like fun!
