Thanksgiving on the Central Coast of California

Brian and I did something a little different this Thanksgiving.  We spent it in a house in the middle of a vineyard in Templeton, California, in the heart of the Paso Robles valley.

Many of you know that we usually head to Colorado to visit our friends in Evergreen.  But their older daughter is now a sophomore at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, and we decided this year to visit her and to explore a new (to us) part of California.

Our first stop was to pick up Carolyn in SLO:
And then we headed to our house.  It was perched on top of a hill, surrounded by grapes on all sides, not another structure in sight:
We spent a lot of time on the deck, looking out over the vineyard:
Brian and I actually stayed in the studio, a short distance from the main house.  It was lovely and private:
We saw some beautiful sunsets:
We did a lot of wine tasting:
 We went to the beach:
I took lots of pictures of seaweed.  I seem to have gotten all excited about the vegetation washed up on the beach:
I loved the color of the shallower water under the pier at Avila Beach:
And there was seaweed down there, too, in that beautiful green water:
We explored San Luis Obispo.  This is the Bubblegum Alley.  Carolyn told us that students stick chewed gum there on their twenty-first birthday.  Ewwww:
We toured the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, buit in 1772:
 We played board games:
We played frisbee golf:

We viewed local art, some of which was in a winery.  Very convenient:
And, of course, we had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal with good friends.  And relaxed afterwards:

Sounds like a lovely Thanksgiving, except for that chewing gum wall. Ew. Just, no. Thanks for sharing the photos!
