40 Years -- Already????

Hudson, Ohio, July 7, 1979.  Forty years of marriage!  It amazes me to think that we have been together that long.  But then again, it seems like we have been together forever and I can barely remember life BB (Before Brian).  Here we are being piped down the aisle in Scottish fashion by family friend Robert Callander:
Happy Anniversary to my wonderful husband!  We spent a long weekend in Houston, seeing an Astros baseball game, visiting our favorite museums, doing a little shopping, and meeting up with a few friends.  The highlights included lunch at Star Pizza, an old favorite:
This statue has been outside Star Pizza for years.  I always enjoy it!
We went to an Astros game, followed by fireworks (I'm sure they were just for us!):
Brian had booked a wonderful room at the Marriot Marquis with a fabulous corner view:
This the view of the Marriot's Texas pool from our room.  Definitely over the top!  And very busy.
We visited a couple of our favorite neighborhoods, shops, and restaurants:
We toured the Menil Collection and the Museum of Fine Arts:

We always have to see Brian's favorite painting, Corn Poppy by Kees van Dongen:
The Menil had an amazing installation by Mineko Grimmer,  "Remembering Plato."  The installation is in a small "quiet" gallery.  Each end of the gallery has a small basin of water, and a pendulum of pebbles frozen in ice is suspended above each basin.  As the ice melts, the pebbles fall into the basins.  The ripples are projected on the wall behind the basin, and the pebbles ping and plunk as they hit metal rods or wire strings strung across the basins.  It was mesmerizing.
We ended the weekend with a romantic dinner at Sorrentos, a wonderful restaurant in the Montrose area:
And this morning we received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from my father-in-law!
Here's to many more years with my sweetheart!
